Hill Air Force Base is one of the most strategically important Air Force bases in the United States — home to the 388th Fighter Wing (the Air Force's first operational F-35A wing) and the Ogden Air Logistics Complex (one of only three Air Logistics Complexes in the Air Force — responsible for maintaining and overhauling aircraft, missiles, and landing gear for the entire Air Force). Hill AFB employs approximately 22,000 military and civilian personnel — making it Utah's largest employer. The Family History Library and FamilySearch are not direct social service providers, but they are foundational to the Utah Population Database and to the University of Utah's landmark genetics research that has produced medical discoveries benefiting people worldwide.
